So this is officially my first photoblog post, yay! This photo was taken on April 5th during our outing to the park. We stumbled across this gorgeous old tree that had this huge opening in the trunk. It was breathtakingly beautiful, almost like a small cave. I was surprised I have not noticed it there before. Chris snapped a few photos of me climbing the tree and being silly. Afterward I begged him to climb up there so I could get a few shots of him. Reluctantly, he agreed. :) He absolutely hates heights and it was sorta on a hill but he done wonderfully. I’m very proud of this photo and I’m excited to get out there and take more! Tagged in Black & White, Nature, Trees. |

Wow…you’re a really good photographer! I have to ask: what camera do you use?
I love this picture. Brett saw it over my shoulder and goes, “Wow, that’s sweet”. So you even got the B. stamp of approval!
Ahhh! I’m so excited to see what more you have to post! :-)
-M.
Oh…nevermind, I just saw that you use the Nikon d40. Nice!!
Woohoo. Thanks to you both! :D Yup, Chris got me my Nikon for my birthday last year and I looove it. I’m surprised it’s taken me a whole year to create a photoblog but now that I have one, I’m excited and can’t wait to share more!
This looks like its straight out of a magazine photoshoot! Very nice :)
@ Kaylee. Oh wow! I adore you. Thank you so much. :)
Congratulations for starting a photoblog! I really love your way of post-processing – the colours are toned down and desaturation, contrast is improved and they look really, really professional. Wow, Chris gave you a Nikon as a birthday present? That’s terribly sweet of him, awww!
I love the fact that the ‘front’ of the picture is pretty much black and white, but the sky is still blue :D
@ Teddy. Woohoo, I got Teddy’s approval! :P I love post-processing.. thank the lord for Photoshop! I enjoy taking a good picture and tweaking it.. helps me portray what I feel about the photo. If that makes any sense. :D And yep, my Nikon totally topped every gift I have ever gotten. :P
@ Emsz. Thank you! That’s one of my favorite things to do. I enjoy black and white photos but leaving a little color in it just makes it pop, I think. Adds a whole new quality to the photo.
It’s cool that you have your own model ;) Keep it up Latrina! You’re awesome at this.
I’m so sorry I missed this! Been so busy with the mid-terms lately. Anyway – awesome post-processing! Lovely setting too, I’m really curious what’s inside that gaping hole in the trunk. =D And aww, how I wish I had a model to shoot!
Great maiden photoblog post, Latrina. Keep it up! :D
P/s: And I’m really flattered to spot my photoblog’s link down there! I’ve linked you back too. :P
Yes, I am very lucky to have Chris as a model! I feel so bad for him though.. me ordering him to stand this way or look in that direction, hehe. But he’s always so great. :)
@ Ember. Yay, you stopped by. :) I am such an admirer of your photoblog and it’s what actually inspired me to get mine up, finally. So ty. :D
Oh man, the tree was gorgeous! It was really like a small cave. There was a small opening in the back of the trunk so you could see right through it! And the part of the trunk where Chris was sitting was hollow so you could look straight down in to it. Was pretty awesome. :D
“I’m really curious what’s inside that gaping hole in the trunk.”
Sadly, it’s only empty water bottles and such :(
“Sadly, it’s only empty water bottles and such :(” — where is your imagination, man? Minus the plastic bottle and loads of leaves.. it was fairy/gnome heaven.
Geez you have a good eye. Do you sell these?
@ Merrilee. Oh wow, thank you. :) No, I have not sold any of my photos before — do you think I could? ;) It’s certainly something I would some day hope to do though!
Why not? If you have the talent, cultivate it. Everyone dreams of earning money doing something they love :)
PS what happens if you get a commenter who can’t add?? (As evidenced by the fact that I’ve done this twice and still got the answer wrong…ahhahahah.)
@ Merrilee. Haha! I have been told that the math problem has stumped quite a few people. Maybe it’s just my way to keep math alive. Mwhaha :D
P.s. I, too, have gotten it wrong before. :|
this is my most favorite pic you have on here. it is truel amazing.i LOVE it to death. chris is such a good sport when it comes to things like this. remind me when you put up new post so i can come by and comment more of them :P
p.s. i can NOT wait untill that day comes that me and you go shooting stuff together. it will be so much fun. just you, me, our cameras, and all the beautiful nature that will be surrounding us (lol, sorry if i misspelled anything. as you should know, i cant spell all that wonderfuly.)
@ Kelsey. It’s my favorite too. :D I was pretty shocked when I came back home and looked at the photos that I took that day. I’m improving, don’tcha think? :)
I’m excited about it too, it should be fun! Maybe I can teach you a few things. Maybe one day, when you can take CARE of it, you can get a Nikon like mine! Then we’d really have some fun, lol.
Oh, go to this website and scroll down on the drop down menu & click on “My Yahoo” and then click the Subscribe Now button. And I think it should email you or something whenever I post a new picture. Pretty neat, eh!?
Btw, thanks for all the comments, haha I love it!
what website?
@ Hah! I forgot to link it. It’s on the bottom of the page, it says RSS feed.
This photo made me go O_O at first sight. I like the whole feeling of this photo, so peaceful and a bit sad..
@ Rin. Sad, really? That’s interesting. I see it more as serene, like an escape almost. I love knowing what others see/feel by it. So cool to hear every one’s different perspective! Thank you. :D
AMAZING, you are a very talented young lady. I so wish I could have met you when you all were here. Next time I will be sure to do just that. :)
